Ants come from behind to get a draw

The Ants equalised in the 85th minite to earn a well deserved draw v Oakley at Blairwood Park.  It was the Ants who took the lead after only five minutes when GARETH TIMONEY headed home from a corner. Both teams were playing some good football despite the driving rain and Oakley equalised in the 13th minute when number 10 shot past Duncan. The scores stayed the same until the ref was the only man in the park who saw an infringement in the box and awarded a penalty to the home side in the 71st minute. Number 16 gave Duncan no chance from the spot, putting the ball high into the top corner to put Oakley 2-1 ahead albeit against the run of play as the Ants had been dominating the second half. It would have been harsh on Cotters men if they didn’t at least get a draw and JAMIE DOCHERTY almost equalised but put just wide with the goal at his mercy, but he didnt let his head go down and in the 85th minute he drilled a shot past the Oakley keeper following a flowing build up move involving 3 or 4 Ants players.

Another good workout for the Ants and credit to the players for plugging away.

Next Match v Airdrie Under 20s on Monday night at McKenna Park
