The club are delighted to announce that John Doyle has been named as Saint Anthony’s FC Co-Manager, alongside Ronnie McDonald who continues in his role after outgoing Co-Manager Tony Kane made the decision to step down due to work commitments We would like to thank Tony for his hard work and dedication last season and we wish him every success with his business venture.
John has been involved with the Ants in the past as part of James McKenna’s coaching team and brings with him enthusiasm and experience having been in the junior game for a while now, most recently at Kirkintilloch Rob Roy as a coach, and a spell as Co-Manager at Cambuslang.
We are excited for the coming season, we are sure that Ronnie and John and the coaching staff are the right team to take the club forward on the park whilst we work hard behind the scenes to try and secure success off it.
The Official Ants website spoke to John who provided us with this statement –
I am delighted to be announced as Co Manager of St Anthony’s JFC, but firstly I would like to say massive thank you to Stewart Maxwell, Gordon Moffat and Kevin Finlayson, the players, committee and supporters and everyone linked with Kirkintilloch Rob Rob for a fantastic season, with such a great club, and to be part of a great season and winning my first trophy in junior football. Kirkintilloch Rob Roy is a club that is growing and with Stewart and the guys at the helm, I am sure they will continue be a success.
I am no stranger to St Anthony’s FC having been here on a few occasions before, however to come in as co manager is extra special and something I am really looking forward to.
Having been in junior football for a while, I have always longed to be in the hot seat and although I had a short stint at Cambuslang Rangers, I never got the opportunity to continue.
However around a month ago the club approached Kirkintilloch Rob Roy for permission to speak to me, and after meeting Felix and the executive committee, I was delighted to accept the challenge.
The last few seasons hasn’t been the best for the Ants on and off the pitch which hasn’t been easy for everyone involved with the club. Now with my season over with Rob Roy, Ronnie and I can officially get to work on building the squad for the coming season, which is a big challenge but one we are confident in achieving.
We are also really exited about the clubs ambitions to build a youth set up as well and hope to have our first U21 team this time next season. We are also delighted with the clubs social media team that will be continuously providing updates of all the news and goings on at the club which will bring the club some much needed sponsorship and hopefully bring the local support to watch the team on a Saturday.
Lastly I would like to thank everyone at the Ants for this great opportunity and we will do our very best to make the season ahead a successful one.
Mon The Ants.
Look out for further announcements over the coming weeks as we gear up to the start of the New season
