Ants land McLaughlin

The club are today delighted to announce the signing of midfielder Chris McLaughlin from Glenvale AFC. Chris was highly sought after by a number of clubs and we are delighted to have him put pen to paper following a great season for Glenvale where he scored the clubs goal of the season and won the league cup. Here’s hoping he brings the winning touch with him as he makes the step up.

Welcome to The Ants Chris, pleasure to have you on board.

C’Mon The Ants!!

Neossi next up to re-sign

Versatile Ants player Maxi Neossi became the latest of last seasons squad to sign up again for the new season. The Cameroonian made 25 appearances for the club last season, mainly in defence although he also made a couple of appearances in midfield and he will be looking to maintain his place as a regular this season.

Good to have you back Maxi

Sign up today for Friends of the Ants

We are looking for people to sign up to our Friends of the Ants fundraiser which will help the club raise much needed funds. For less than the price of a large latte a week you can help the Ants and at the same time put yourself in the running for a cash prize in our two Friends of the Ants draws, one just before Christmas, where one lucky winner scoops £500 and 5 runners up win £100 and again at the end of the season where the prizes are the same.

You will be allocated a number, which is then placed into the draw bag and the draw is live on Facebook so you can watch on hoping to hear your number called out.

It’s only £2.50 a week to join and you can pay in a variety of ways. Want to pay by weekly or monthly by standing order? Not a problem, let us know and we can send you the details needed, or contact a committee member who can collect your money in a way that suits yourself.

We really appreciate your interest in the Ants!

Ants Match Secretary Felix McKenna sworn in as SJFA President

The club are proud to announce that Match Secretary Felix McKenna was today sworn in as the President of the Scottish Junior Football Association at the AGM in Perth. This is a feather in the cap for Felix and the club after his tenure as Vice President of the SJFA, as well as stints as President and Vice President of the West Region of the SJFA. It is a big recognition of all the hard work and effort put into the Ants and the Junior game as a whole over many years and is much deserved.

One of his first duties as President was to present Ants Treasurer Anthony McKenna with a long service award in recognition of his 23 years service to the club.

Congratulations to Felix on your presidency from all at the club and congratulations also to Anthony on receiving his long service award.

Deadlock as Ants and Dunipace dish up draw

A cold McKenna Park was the setting as the Ants and Dunipace faced up for the second time this season, Dunipace winning the first encounter 1-0 at Westfield Park earlier in the season. It wasn’t a classic as the scoreline suggests with neither side really deserving the win. The Ants had a great chance to win the game late on but Browns effort hit a defender and the post and despite protestations that the ball had crossed the line the man in the middle was not in agreement and no goal awarded and the match ended a stalemate.
